"Captain's starlog, April fifth, twenty-one-fifty-six. Today is a day of celebration on board Endeavour. Only five days ago the entire ship was affected by random computer malfunctions that almost cost us our mission against the Romulans and more importantly the lives of everyone under my command. I cannot write how much pride I have with this crew, even under this type of crisis, we were able to repair the ship and complete our reconnaissance mission. Commander Patel and the rest of the engineering department have removed the hardware that caused the malfunctions and have completed repairs. So today we can celebrate First Contact Day between Earth and Vulcan, the day that Zefram Cochrane launched the Phoenix ninety-three years ago. The completion of our mission alongside this holiday is a welcome distraction as we return to Starbase One to share what we discovered about the Romulan base. I've ordered the entire crew to take some R and R where they can."
